Textbooks have sexes; or even to be more accurate, textbooks have genders. They do in my own scalp, anyway. Or at the least, the ones that I write do. And these are sexes which have something, but not everything, regarding the sex of the story’s principle personality.
After I published the five amounts of Sandman, I tended to switch between what I looked at as male storylines, such as the first story, obtained under the name Preludes. Or the last book and more female stories, like Game of You. or Brief Lives.
The novels certainly are a somewhat different matter. Neverwhere is really a Son’s Own Experience (Narnia around the Northern Line, as someone once defined it), having an everyman hero, along with the ladies in it tended to occupy equally investment roles, like the Horrific Girl, the Queen in Danger, the Kickass Woman Enthusiast, the Desirable V.
